Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967 in Atlanta. Her family is the fourth Roberts family to have resided in Atlanta. This began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was an agriculturalist. Her father was enthusiastic about theatre since a young age. As in school of Emory University in 1952 he was a part of productions at Emory University and in Atlanta. When he was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he received his induction into the air force in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was also in the production. They got married in 1955. Their child, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in 1957. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television that was aimed at children, known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. It was a venture they self-financed. The Actors and Writers Workshop was created in the year 1964 and ran for six years. Lelisa Billingsley, also known as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
