Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and the benefits of community service. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on their farm in Eufala. He played football alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won two national championships. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times and started a business career. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
